Marco Palmisano
pianist·composer
Bio
A Rome-based jazz pianist and composer — classically trained, and at home anywhere across the tradition.
Born in 1996 near Brindisi, Marco came to the piano at six. He trained classically in Lecce at the Tito Schipa Conservatory — with Valeria Vetruccio, Francesco Libetta, Leonardo Cioffi and Carlo Scorrano — and earned his classical piano diploma in 2021. Jazz arrived early: he began at thirteen with Davide Sant’Orsola, then continued with Ettore Carucci.
He completed an advanced-specialisation master’s (master di alto perfezionamento) at the Saint Louis College of Music in Rome, studying with Pierpaolo Principato, Rosario Giuliani, Fabrizio Sferra and — above all — Ramberto Ciammarughi, his most important teacher, with whom he studied for three years; he graduated with top marks and honours in March 2026. From 2019 to 2021 he also studied privately with Mark Sherman of The Juilliard School, alongside masterclasses with Rita Marcotulli, Roberto Gatto and Tom Kennedy. Beyond music, he holds a degree in Philosophy from the University of Salento (2018).
Across five active projects and collaborations with Raffaele Casarano, Alessandro Napolitano and Stefano Bagnoli, he moves freely through swing, bebop, blues, soul and beyond — on stages from the Auditorium Parco della Musica to Alexanderplatz.
